the ‘$1000 to go to Hawaii’ bride, the ‘I bought a $99 polygraph on amazon’ lady, or the ‘why was $200 so huge’ birthday girl
a lot of people seem to be confused and think the hawaii bride and the polygraph lady are the same but they’re actually 2 separate people so here’s all 3 in one go
the “$1500 to go to hawaii” bride
Ms Polygraph Test
$200 birthday
bask in the unfiltered nonsense of it all
since someone mentioned this and I had forgotten, a last minute entry fighter: “Squire Sebastian” lady
New to the arena, Kristie and her surprise wedding
It’s like when I complained about horse poop on hiking trails and how it’s super annoying that there’s a bajillion ‘clean up after your dog’ signs everywhere and zero regarding cleaning up after your horse. So when it rains on the trail and the piles of horse shit turn into a lagoon of hay and sludge and it’s completely impossible to walk on the trail without you/dog stepping in literal ankle deep shit puddles, it’s kind of hard to hear ‘you have to pick up dog shit because it’s a biohazard but horse shit biodegrades much cleaner so that’s why you don’t have to clean it up’.
You can tell me for hours why horse poop is better for the environment than sog poop and in honesty I’m on board with it. I took animal biotech. I know how herbivore digestion works. I grew up in a farming town. Still doesn’t placate me when I have to choose between turning around and going home early, going off the trail (illegal in some places!!!), and walking through shit-mud slurries with a dog that I later need to get back into my car probably covered with the stuff as it splashes.
Don’t be That Asshole just because it doesn’t immediately affect you or those around you. And don’t tell me how it’s secretly really great that you did this because it’s good for xyz things when I’m the one that has to deal with everything that comes after.
See, I think in this situation, this is less of a horse poop issue, and more of a trail maintenance/equestrian use of trails issue. It should never get to the point of poop lagoons. If there is horse poop on a trail, it shouldn’t be an impassable shit swamp. If there is that much horse poop on the trail at a given time, the trails are not being maintained and are being degraded by an overabundance of users. Horse riders, just like ATV-ists, bikers, snowmobilers, hikers, etc should be aware of how they degrade our parks and trails and take action accordingly. Its just called being responsible.
And while its not usually viable to carry a pitchfork with your while riding on the trail, people should always clean up around their trailers, and NEVER dump poop from inside the trailer into the parking lot!
Have you ever tried shoveling horse manure with a hand-held gardening spade? Go try and see if the result seems convenient or realistic enough to suggest to other people.
Besides, most public-access parks and trails don’t allow horses. If your local trail does, do what horse owners have to do and research what parks allow horses, and then travel to the one that works for you (i.e. one not on that list).
Most of the parks that allow dogs also allow horses. If dog owners must be inconvenienced by picking up their animals’ shit, it doesn’t seem unfair that horse owners need to do the same thing.
can you please explain how it’s reasonable to expect riders to pick up horse poo? do you have any ideas to make it possible to do so?
let’s say you’re on a half-day trail to make math easy. that’s twenty pounds of poo, and about 6 times dismounting to pick up the poo.
how are you going to tie it the horse six times to dismount, pick up the poop, and remount?what if the horse doesn’t ground tie well? if you tie to a tree, you’re in the woods, so the environment is unpredictable and the ground is uneven; what if the horse spooks while tied or ground tied, possibly harming itself or getting loose? and how are you meant to carry twenty pounds of poop around all day?
do you have any suggestions?
it’s much, much less of an inconvenience to pick up dog poo than it is for a mounted rider to dismount, find a safe place to tie, pray that the horse won’t spook, shovel 3-5 pounds of poo into a bag, untie the horse, find a place to remount the horse, and carry on while carrying the poo.
you really should be complaining to trail management about their shoddy maintence practices and/or the existence of mixed trails, not people who can’t feasibly do anything to fix the situation.
And proving the point of my OP. If you’re inconvenienced by something someone else is doing, it’s apparently your fault, and not the fault of the person leaving literal shit around and saying it’s not fair to expect them to do something about it while demanding other people clean up *their* animal’s literal shit.
Like, not trying to be an asshole, but if the horse doesn’t tie well maybe don’t take it in public? If the horse can’t handle safely being restrained then don’t put it in a situation where you’re going to have to do that? It’s not the horses fault it shits. But it’s your responsibility to take care of it. Don’t try shifting the blame to the horse. If it can’t handle you dismounting and at the very least kicking the shit aside, then keep it on privately owned land? If my dog couldn’t handle a sit stay long enough for me to clean up after it, we wouldn’t go in public. I feel like that’s easy. Dogs shit frequently too. It’s not that big of a deal to take a thirty second break every now and then.
Because horse people don’t like the burden of having to train their animals…
Bruh… What am I gonna do? Carry an entire pitchfork with me on the trail? Strap an entire trashcan to my horse?
I guess you missed each and every reblog of this saying “kick it off to the side” including the one two reblogs up but apparently people in Germany are supposed to bring trash bags and have at it so I mean you could do that too.
Nothing like kicking a giant pile of shit off to the side.. nah fam they can deal
“I don’t want to get poop on my shoes so it’s perfectly acceptable for other people to get poop on their shoes” is what I’m hearing here. What a great response that perfectly illustrates my point, ideal, fantastic.
Dude, so many dog owners don’t pick up their shit either sooooo don’t care too much
Yes, except that’s literally illegal, and carries at best a $300-500 fine with it and at worst can be punished via jailtime and community service. Requires that person to get caught, is an imperfect system, but still something literally required by law. Not really a “gotcha” here.
Why are you walking on the horse trails, there is a high chance of getting trampled by people going on a breeze
See above: where this was a problem, “trails that allow dogs” and “trails that allow horses” are the same trails. It’s not “horse-trails”, it’s “animal-friendly hiking areas which allow both dogs and horses because they aren’t separated”. Also where this was a problem, it was a swampy, wet, rainy area in which the months of rain would turn easily dodged piles of horse shit into a giant ankle-deep puddle of sludge covering the entire trail for several feet at a time.
So, perhaps, people on foot in areas meant to be shared and that are not horse-specific should have a little common courtesy from riders regarding the whole poop situation. You don’t want shit on your boots, I don’t want shit on mine, but shit’s on the trail so since it’s your animal that caused it, perhaps you should be the one to put forth some minimal effort in cleaning it up.
Who’s horse shits enough for a pile to turn into a fucking bog
Math: if there is more than one horse that poops in a spot, and it rains for many days on end, and horse turds can only absorb so much water before they break apart and turn into liquid, how much muddy surface area can said liquified shit cover before it turns into an impassable bog?
The answer might surprise you!
I have found the true answer: let’s just all float instead
idk where y’all live but i can almost guarantee that not all the trails that allow dogs allow horses. of the many, many trails/parks i know, only a couple have horse trails. usually there are connected trails that don’t allow horses, IF they allow horses at all. this goes for trails i’ve looked at in other states
if the trails are really that gross, it’s for sure a maintenance/over use issue. i would recommend looking into other trails and/or calling who ever maintains the trails (conservation, park service, ect)
Living for this horseshit drama.
I ain’t tyin my horse to a cactus on a trail and certainly ain’t carrying a pitchfork while riding 😂😂
Therapists aren’t people who you “pay to pretend to care about you”, therapists are people you pay to teach you how to care for yourself
Me: I am violently depressed.
Therapist: Oh! Sounds like you need to do YOGA! That will help!
Me: *signs up for yoga*
Me: *is violently depressed in Downward Dog*
Me: I hate myself and only see my flaws
Therapist: ok lets refocus on things you like about yourself. This week i want you to try and journal about good things you’ve for yourself and others.
Me: *does the homework* yeah but i still hate myself but feel bad cause i shouldn’t
Therapist: feeling like you shouldn’t hate yourself is a step in the right direction. Mental health is complex and isn’t something that will ~magically~ improve. We have a lot of hard work head of us but I’ll be here to help you.
TL;DR stop perpetuating the idea that therapy is unhelpful because the results are not instantaneous.
FUCKING THIS.
As a psychologist the amount of bullshit on this site, the amount of fucking dangerous bullshit on this site about how therapy is neurotypical bullshit and isn’t worth it and how exercise is pointless and good diet is pointless and that therapy homework is pointless DRIVES ME UP THE FUCKING WALL
Exercise is fucking important. good diet is fucking important therapy is fucking important. WHY???
because pills alone don’t help. they improve the hormonal imbalance (as does exercise and good diet which ALSO are a form of very real self care as your physical being is sorta connected to your mental one but go fucking figure right?), but guess what? the suicidal thoughts, the thoughts of harm, the thoughts of hating yourself, they’re still there. suicides actually increase when medicated. why? because suddenly you have the energy to fulfill thoughts of harming yourself. which is why you NEED therapy alongside pills.
it has taken you years, or decades to create your maladaptive thought processes and behaviours. that shit doesn’t disappear overnight. core beliefs don’t change overnight. these are the very fucking core of your personhood, your being and personality. THAT TAKES TIME TO CHANGE
STOP ACTING LIKE THERAPY IS SHIT IF IT DOESNT WORK IN TWO SESSIONS
^This!!!!!
The stigma that therapy isn’t worth it if you don’t feel better after the first couple sessions is such bullshit. It took me 8 months to tell my therapist anything personal but I kept going because I wanted to get better. I thought it was bs too when she kept telling me to think about other things and to distract myself when I have intrusive thoughts (not exact words whatsoever). Now it’s 2 and a half years later and I can successfully switch from thinking about all the ways I could kill myself to the song Slippery by Migos and immediately start laughing. You need to let it help you.
